Bloomin' with Beauty

One of the great things about being a Stampin' Up! Demo is that you get to see and pre order Mini Catalogue items a month before they are available to customers. This allows us to play with the new products and be able to showcase them to our customers better. So why am I sharing this with you? Well our Spring Mini Catalogue goes on sale on the 1st August, so on the 1st July we were able to pre order items from this mini.

Being a ribbon collector, I ordered new Satin Ribbon in Purely Pemegranate. This ribbon is sooooo nice. It sat on my table last night and shone at me all night. The colour is really rich and it was almost a shame to cut it. But I decided it had to be used.
Do you think I could get away with just the ribbon on this card? It seemed a shame to cover this beautiful ribbon up especially after cutting it off the roll. But I suppose it needs something more.
So I took one of my new mini sets, Bloomin' with Beauty and made this card.

I used my aquapainter and ink pads to colour the vase and the flowers. Using techniques I learnt from convention, I am happy with the way this turned out. Colours used Flowers - Purely Pomegranate, Vase - Blue Bayou, Leaves - Wild Wasabi and the shadow Sky Blue. What do you think?

The base card is River Rock, with So Swirly wheel in Versmark as a background. The word bloom is also from the Bloomin' with Beauty stamped in Purely Pomegranate and punched with the Large Oval punch and mounted onto the Designer Label Punch.

And one last close up of the beautiful ribbon. Have I told you yet that I think this ribbon is just it.

Happy New Financial Year

Start the new financial year with your own business!
  • Do you love stamping and scrapbooking?
  • Do you want to share your love of stamping and scrapbooking with others? While earning money?
  • Do you want to start your own business? With low startup costs? With low overheads?
  • Do you want to work your own hours? Decide yourself how much time you want to spend on your business? Work around family and other committments?
  • Do you want to get your own supplies at a discounted rate?

These are some of the reasons I had when I joined Stampin' Up! As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator you decide how your business will run. Whether you want to just earn the 20% discount just for your own use and maybe sell to family and friends. Or you want to start a long term career. It is totally your choice and you can decide at any time to change your business to suit your life.

July is a great month to join Stampin' Up!, you will only pay $299 this month to purchase your starter kit. That is a $25 discount on the normal price. This kit is worth over $560 retail. You will also have until after Christmas to meet your first minimum requirement. If you would like to know more check out here on my website.

I would love to talk to you soon about getting you started in your own business.

Crayon Resist

Boy its been a while, I will have to try harder in future. For today I wanted to show you a card I did at a recent workshop. My hostess was looking for a male card that used a brayer and maybe some crayon resist. My hostess also sent some ideas from cards she found on Splitcoaststampers but they used Set Sail which retired in March. Luckily one of my friends, (thanks Jackie) recently purchased Seaworthy and it was sooooo new she still hadn't trimmed and mounted it yet. I promised to mount it for her if I could use it.

So this is what I managed to come up with for this challenge.

What do you think? I think I covered all parts of my challenge and this card was well received by my workshop guest.

So how this card was done. Main card is Taken with Teal and stamped with Sanded Background stamp in Versamark. I have a strip of Soft Sky which I scrunched up, flatened out and then ran the Taken with Teal inkpad over the creases. A piece of Black twine is knoted around this piece.

The sail boat is from Sea Worthy set and is stamped on Gloss card with Staz On Black ink. I then took a white crayon (I raided Sarah's crayons for the white crayon) and applied it to the sail and the waves. Any colour cheap wax crayon will work for this technique.

I then brayed Soft Sky ink onto the card and then Taken with Teal to the bottom to give the illusion of sea and sky. With a tissue, I buffed the image to remove any last crayon. The edges are textured with a fingernail and mounted onto Night of Navy card.

To finish off the Happy Birthday is from Stem Sayings and punched out with a Word Window punch.

I have another Crayon Resist to show you but my Camera ran out of charge so hopeful tommorrow I will get a photo of it.

Time for new

Well it has been a while and a lot has happened that I would like to share.

Stampin' Up has release the new 08/09 Ideas Book and Catalouge and it is really beautiful, full of great new stamp sets and lots of new product to compliment the new stamps.
So I placed my first new catty order on the 1st of April and then waited impaitently for my order to be delievered. Well it turned up last Wednesday and before I dived into I took these photos to share with you all. This is just as I opened my parcel.
This is a closer view of what I ordered. Gorgeous new stripped and stitched ribbons, Rhinestone brads, scallop circle punch and my new favorite stamp set, Baroque Motifs. If you want to check out the new stuff first hand and want to play at my house with me, this Saturday 19th April is my new Catty launch party. Details here

There is a new range of 6 in-colours, I thought I loved last years in-colours and was very sad to see them go didn't want to really lose Cranberry Crisp but the new colours are even more loveable. Purely Pomegrate is just so ....... yummy. And Groovy Guava not to mention Wild Wasabi. I can see many beautiful moments using these colours and the cards they can make. I love the way Stampin' Up! name their colours. It is so much more imaginative that Pink or Blue, most of them sound good enough to eat. Anyway, I will have to have a play with these wonderful new colours and I will post here soon what I have done. I haven't had much of a chance since Wednesday to play with my new stuff, this weekend I went to the SU convention here in Brissy, learned heaps there and now have to sort out my notes and my swap cards & work out how I can use what I have learnt this weekend.
Will post soon about some of the things I learnt at conveniton.
